Are We Really Accountable for our Actions?
There are so many stories, from the time of Adam and Eve where we blame others for our actions. I was watching a news story of a woman who had an inappropriate interaction with her daughter’s ex-teenage boyfriend. They had shared sexually related texts. The plot thickens as she was the former mayor of a small town and her husband is the high school principal. I wondered how the news reporters got the daughter to interview on behalf of her mother and then they dropped another bomb; they all blamed the mother’s inappropriate action on the death of her disabled son. What? Now I don’t want to be disrespectful. I worked in hospice and palliative care … Read entire article »
Comfort Found Through Dreams
In a time that I most miss my mom, the anniversary of her passing, Thanksgiving Day, 1993, I feel a great sense of loss. Some years are more intense than others, this year is number 18. How to Cope with Death & Loss During the Holidays
Each year I am reminded of the passing of my mother. People say the first year is always the most difficult. As years pass, the sadness is not as deep but you never forget. My mother was not well for some months and had slipped into what doctors were calling a semi-comatose state. She was unresponsive to voice and touch. She had signed an Advanced Health Care Directive (AHCD) and the doctors had advised us that there was nothing else that they could do and wanted to remove her feeding tube (by her wishes from her AHCD). They thought that was the best thing for her and to allow her body to go naturally. I of … Read entire article »
What to do when you think God doesn’t hear you
As an Online Missionary with Global Media Outreach, I am often asked, “Why won’t God answer my prayers?” or “I don’t think God hears me.” In prayer, many people go straight to God to ask for what they want or need; “I want this… or I need that… or Can you please allow something to happen…” It’s as if the Lord … Read entire article »
Faith, do you really have it?
S – Scripture Mt. 17:20 “…Because you have so little faith. Nothing will be impossible for you.” O – Observation In the book of Matthew, he tells the story of when Jesus rebuked … Read entire article »
Oh death, where is your sting?
Today I found out that a classmate and former coworker died in a hiking accident back home on Mount Olomana in Kailua, Oahu. He was only 44. Are there opportunities to share your faith in a Christian organization?
Yesterday was a great day as everyday is when someone decides to make a decisioin for Christ to be their Lord and Savior. I volunteer for a large, international Christian organization. One would think that as a volunteer only Christians would come to volunteer their time and talents. However there are circumstances where someone may be encouraged by friends to volunteer, … Read entire article »
Are Your Friends Helping You or Hurting You?
S – Scripture Do not be mislead: “Bad company corrupts good character.” -I Corinthians 15:33 O – Observation Paul was speaking to the church in Corinth. We should not be around those who are of poor Biblical moral character as that can corrupt that which God is working in us. A – Application When I first got saved I was about 13 yrs old, hanging around the wrong crowd, getting into trouble. My friendships were not helping me as I was striving to gain a solid foundation in my new walk with Christ. I felt led to call my then best friend and explain that I didn’t think we should hang out together anymore. It was tough decision, especially during … Read entire article »

2.4 God Speaks to His People
If you’ve been attending church and in fellowship regularly, mainly an evangelical Christian church, you’ll hear people say things like they felt led by the Lord, or God told me…” Often times Christians who have not been in God’s Word regularly and don’t take the time to study the Word, or non-believers just plainly don’t know what it is to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ think, “how does God talk to these people?” How do you know it’s really God speaking. Or, “Does God just come to you in some spiritual form and sit at your dining room table and say, “We should talk?” In the scriptures below you’ll find that many ears will hear, … Read entire article »
Give Thanks to the Lord
Just a step away from Experiencing God, sharing a scripture from today’s reading in the One Year Bible. S: Scripture – “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. v2 Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies. v3 For he has gathered the exiles from many lands, from east and west, from north and south. O: Observation - These scriptures remind me that we should always give thanks, not just for the things we ask for, not just for Him loving us, but for redeeming us. What does it mean to be redeemed? Here’s what the dictionary definition is: re·deem tr.v. re·deemed, re·deem·ing, re·deems 1. … Read entire article »

Walking with God. Quiet time with God. In the busy-ness of life we need to make time, because we can.
